PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Principal
Dear Families and Friends of the Trinity Catholic College Community
Money Invested, Money Saved
Recently there has been much public discussion around the Australian Government's model of funding schools. Catholic Schools NSW have put together some data to explain how government funding for non-government schools—such as Catholic and Independent schools— supports your right to choose the best educational environment for your child while also reducing costs for Australian taxpayers.
Using the most recent data, the report outlines how funding these schools through a mixed education model reduces pressure on public education resources, with savings of up to $6.88 billion annually. The report highlights how school choice benefits families and the broader community alike.

E-Bikes
Recent articles and news reports highlight a significant increase in e-bike related injuries and a growing concern about their safety, particularly for children and pedestrians. E-bikes are associated with higher rates of traumatic brain injuries, internal injuries, and collisions with pedestrians compared to traditional bicycles. There's also a rise in hospital admissions and surgeries due to e-bike accidents, with older riders and children facing increased risks. While not directly related to accidents, e-bike batteries have also been linked to a rise in fires, requiring increased attention to battery safety. A serious additional issue in this regard is the fact that there are now documented instances of damaged e-Bikes bursting into flames even when not being charged.
Best wishes,

Science Week in the Library
The theme for National Science Week 2025 is "Decoding the Universe – Exploring the unknown with nature's hidden language". This theme encourages exploration of fundamental scientific concepts like mathematics and quantum science, and their connection to the universe. It also aligns with the 2025 United Nations International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
We are encouraging students to come into the Library to check out the amazing model DNA display (Year 9) and to dip into our terrific science resources this week. Students can log into Overdrive (Compass drop-down menu) and borrow a science eBook or magazine, watch a science doco or short clip on ClickView (also on the Compass drop-down menu) or listen to a science podcast.

PRC
The Premier’s Reading Challenge will be closing on September 19th. Please encourage your child to keep logging books. We will be contacting students individually by email to confirm their participation before verifying records.

World Scholar’s Cup 2025
We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of students from our Diocese who recently took part in the World Scholar’s Cup at St Philip’s Christian College, Cessnock. Trinity Catholic College is proud to have had Madailein Carter (Year 9) representing our school in this impressive competition.
Over two exciting days, students joined peers from across the region to engage in this international festival of learning, where collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking take centre stage. They participated in four challenging and inspiring events:
- Scholar’s Bowl – a fast-paced team quiz spanning a wide range of subjects.
- Team Debate – lively debates on topical and thought-provoking issues.
- Scholar’s Challenge – an individual multiple-choice test covering diverse areas of knowledge.
- Collaborative Writing – creative and analytical writing in teams.
Students embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, showing not only academic skill but also teamwork, confidence, and resilience. They explored new ideas, connected with fellow scholars, and demonstrated the true spirit of curiosity and celebration that defines the World Scholar’s Cup.
We are incredibly proud of their efforts and congratulate them on representing our community with distinction.

“The Rise of Bozz” Shines Bright
On August 2, the curtain closed on ASPIRE 2025: The Rise of Bozz at the Civic Theatre — and what a show it was! Our Trinity Catholic College students lit up the stage and behind-the-scenes, taking on key roles in acting, dancing, singing, playing in the band, managing backstage magic, and contributing creatively at every turn.
Despite the play’s dark, dystopian setting, their talent brought colour, energy, and brilliance that captivated the audience from start to finish. In the story, young people are taught how to make a “positive impact” in a new world — a message our Trinity students are already living out in the real world. Congratulations to every student who brought this production to life. We can’t wait to see many of you step into the spotlight again for next year’s show and continue to shine your light for all to see!
